Flushing and Pickling Applications

"Water used in heating-cooling closed circuits, cooling towers, steam boilers, steam generators as heat transfer fluid in Thermal Mechanical Installations together with industrial production processes, have scaling, deposit, sludge, corrosion, and biological activation effects. The loss of material, energy, and labor caused by such effects shows a serious economic loss. Therefore, the flushing process should be applied consciously by the technical staff in the newly manufactured or existing heating and cooling closed circuits together with the thermal processes that are operating according to specific purposes."

'Flushing' literally means washing with plenty of water, and this expression describes the method of 'first washing' applied to closed circuits especially in the literature of construction and mechanical installation."

However, using the method of flushing with water is not enough to withdraw, remove and clean the impurities that are attached to the device, equipment and pipe jackets with Physical, Chemical, and Physicochemical bonds. In flushing applications made only with water, only some of the simple physical residues on the surface can be removed. The oily layer on the surface of the pipe cannot be cleaned. At the end of this type of application, ΣFe values measured in water are measured low. However, this measurement will not be reliable. Most of the impurities are attached to the walls with chemical and physicochemical bonds. For this reason, [Flushing] should be applied with the support of chemical products having physical and chemical properties that are not harmful to the device, equipment, and pipes. "
